Profile:
Jose “Chris” Ocampo joined the Burkett Law Firm as a Law Clerk in the Fall of 2021 and as an Associate Attorney in the Fall of 2022 after graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Since joining, Chris has worked in several areas of his academic interest, which include probate administration, estate planning, and business organization.
Chris was raised in South Georgia and received his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in 2013 from Georgia Southern University while majoring in International Studies and Modern Languages. Afterwards, Chris moved to Charleston, SC to begin his career as a Civil Engineering Technician before embarking to law school in 2019. While in law school, he served as the Technology Editor for the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Trust & Estate Journal and worked as a Research Assistant for the Rule of Law Collaborative. Chris is also proud to have been a member of the school’s Non-Profit Organization Clinic where he worked as a Student-Attorney to advise, organize, and incorporate non-profit organizations and helping them attain a tax-exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service.
Chris is a member of the Cayce-West Columbia Rotary Club and likes to spends his spare time weightlifting, cooking, watching college football, and taking care of his feline friends, Gus and Spritz.
